NOTHING

Is cuter than a bunny on a Pollock chair.

Modernism Magazine Tear Sheets

A while ago a friend gave me a stack of back issues of Modernism. Here's a few favorites I scanned:

Oh, to be those girls...

I cropped this rather wonkily, but the one black cushion on the pair of chairs makes me swoon. A Jacobsen Egg never hurts either.

The lightest poured concrete ever.

If this were my door, I'd come and go from home all day just for the approach.

Growing up in California, and going to elementary, junior high and high schools highly influenced by 60s modernism, there's always nostalgia for open work brick. Someday I'll have a house with pretty shadows.

The house, devastating. And in Mexico. AND WITH A PUPPY.

Today's Pics

Koala wall hanging, $60. Monkeypod bowl, $22. Porcelain lamp, $34. Lampshades (one pictured, sold as pair), $55. Set of 4 calico place mats, sold. Set of 8 Bombay hors d'ouvres forks, $5 (several sets available). Pole lamp, with original box in near mint condition, sold. Transparent blue vase, $65. Log bowl, sold.

At this point, I've got my new Etsy stores finally lined up (thank you Etsy support!), the furniture starting to get up for sale/auction on eBay, and TONS of photo'ed listings needing to be added, going all the way back to the Aloft photo shoot, up through some of the newer things that have been popping up here on the blog.

Wish me luck with my slow (building provided) internet! Today was day three of the requisite hour-long phone calls with Verizon, looking to get an individual (and speedy! oh I miss you speed!) DSL account. They are going to "update" me on Wednesday as to why it is they can't seem to figure out how to give me service...

New Shots

Hans Wegner Heart Chair, SOLD. Available on Ebay or showroom direct sale. Abstract painting, signed "Bachman", $340. Also available on eBay or direct.

I'm working on figuring the whole eBay profile/store thing out. In general, I love eBay, but they don't do any favors to make it any simpler. I have to get feedback and some other blah blah blah before I'm cleared for an official eBay store...

American Martinsville Hutch and Etsy Shots

A fun second day of getting to a bit more photography. Still doing lots of unpacking and organizing, but the rhythm of the workday is starting to come through. Smelling this cooking all day is helping.

As today was the first day with full sunlight in our new place, we obviously are going to need some sort of light diffusing curtains and some foam core boards to block the direct sunlight patches (see first pic with photo assistant/bf holding broken down moving box).

American Martinsville hutch and server $790; Georges Briard double candy dish, $16 (listing to come on Etsy), 6 Southwestern Pink Linen Napkins, $13 (listing to come on Etsy).

First Photos

Today was the first mini photo shoot day...I'm pretty happy with the results thus far.

By the way, these are our two new arrivals, a double pedestal Steelcase metal desk for $400, and am atomic metal kitchen hutch for $350. More (and improved!) photography to come!

Etsy Photo Shoot at Aloft

Had a great day today at Aloft studio getting some fantastic shots of our clothing collection to launch in the Etsy shop. Here's a peek of the great studio, and a couple sneak peaks at the shots for the upcoming listings.

A sweet blog that I came across, Habit, had this photo posted and couldn't help but share.

Design*Sponge Pic on Ffffound!

Ffffound! picked up the star photo of our Design*Sponge photo spread. That makes two interiors by Lorie Reilly and me now! Here is the first.

Red Plaid Umbrella

I just couldn't resist posting these pics I took yesterday. Should be hitting the Etsy store this afternoon, along with some other tasty goodies...

PS. That's our Alvar Aalto 65 chair--we've got two!

Have You Heard?

Polaroid has been adopted! On October 9th, the last batch of produced film passed its "use by" date, and it looked as if Polaroid lovers were going to be left high and dry. Luckily though, as many were hoping, the name and technology for the cameras is being licensed for production, and a group called The Impossible Project (totally worth reading up on these guys) will be producing film. It's quite and interesting story for what some consider an antiquated format while others consider precious. Read more here, here, and here.

Here's a few pics I pulled off the Flickr group, aptly named, "The Polaroid Pool":

Also, if you haven't seen Poladroid, check it out--we've got a bit of a wait until mid 2010. Here is a link to another post I did on Polaroids of plants, too. Lastly, we do have a couple vintage camera's in stock, including an instant film camera (that uses Polaroid film) that was produced for Tupperware and made by Kodak as a gift for their top Tupperware sellers. Super kitsch.

We're Featured on Design*Sponge!

The supremely awesome Amy Azzarito who covered Deluxa for Apartment Therapy some months ago invited us to participate in one of Design*Sponge's Sneak Peeks! We got to literally and figuratively "pull back the curtain" to share our living space in the store, and show off our "little beasts" (our pet bunnies, Bernina and Belikin). Here's some of the pics from the post; here is the link for the full post, with explanations and descriptions.

In all we are so incredibly flattered and delighted to be a part of Design*Sponge and to get to share our home with such a great community!

Big thanks to Lorie Reilly who also did our website photos for all her help. She took tons of great shots, and of course D*S couldn't use them all, so don't be surprised if the strays pop up on the blog sometime soon!
